As they left the warm atmosphere of the Hotel Belvedere behind, Lucia and Alessandro began their evening stroll through the streets of Corenno Plinio, heading toward the harbor. Night had laid its tranquil veil over the town, with lights reflecting on the lake’s water, creating a magical and suspended atmosphere.
Alessandro: “Commissioner Marini, it must be truly fascinating to devote your life to uncovering mysteries and bringing truth to light. How did you choose this career?”
Lucia: “I’ve always felt the calling, ever since I was little. The pursuit of truth, the adrenaline of investigations, the idea of delivering justice… All of that has always driven me to become who I am. And you, Alessandro? How did you discover your passion for flying and for the lake?”
Alessandro: “I think the lake has always been my first love. Growing up here taught me to respect its beauty and secrets. As for flying, it was a natural progression. The sense of freedom you feel up there, above the water, is incomparable. Every flight is an adventure, an opportunity to see the world from a different perspective.”
As they walked, the conversation between Lucia and Alessandro grew progressively more intense and personal, reflecting a growing closeness. Passing by the stone houses, they occasionally greeted the town’s inhabitants enjoying the evening outdoors, unwitting witnesses to this blossoming bond.
Lucia: “I was really struck by your restoration work on the dinghy, that small wooden sailing boat.
It must require great skill and patience.”Alessandro: “Yes, it’s work that demands time and dedication, but seeing an old boat return to the water, reliving its history… It’s a unique satisfaction. And in its own way, it’s not so different from your work, Commissioner. You also seek to bring hidden truth to the surface, to give new life to justice.”
When they reached the harbor, they stopped for a moment to gaze at the dark waters of the lake, the stars dancing on the surface. In that shared silence, both sensed a deep connection between them, an understanding that went beyond words. That night in Corenno Plinio had woven around them a bond both subtle and strong, made of mutual comprehension and an unspoken promise to discover together what the future held........
