In the sixteenth chapter, the story opens with Sofia Romano, daughter of the police commissioner Maurizio Romano, who decides to take a break from her intense studies. The lively Lambrate market, with its stalls full of vintage objects, old books and elegant clothes, offers her the perfect opportunity to switch off and immerse herself in a light and nostalgic atmosphere.
Among the stalls, Sofia is attracted by objects that seem to transport her to other eras, evoking unwritten stories and suggestions that are linked to her love of literature. Her curiosity leads her to linger on a dress from the 1940s, a piece that seems full of mystery and hidden meanings. The day passes between walks, casual encounters and small purchases that reflect her passion for stories of the past.
However, as the sun begins to set, the atmosphere changes. The city routine, until then animated and reassuring, begins to show a shadow of restlessness. Sofia, while walking through the streets of Lambrate to return home, senses an unusual tension in the air. Something seems to deviate from normality, but it is not clear what it is.
Meanwhile, the police commissioner Maurizio Romano concludes his working day and returns to his apartment, but what he finds leaves him with a feeling of unease. A detail out of place seems to suggest that something is wrong. His reflections are interrupted by an unexpected message that places him in front of a complex choice full of implications, capable of putting both his values and his role as a father to the test.
The chapter ends leaving the reader suspended in a growing tension. The circumstances surrounding Sofia and the police commissioner Maurizio seem to converge towards a larger and darker network of events, where the fate of the characters is increasingly intertwined with a series of power games and secrets yet to be revealed.

Tales. Shadows of Ambition. Chapter 16. An Afternoon in Lambrate
After hours spent immersed in the pages of ancient literature, Sofia, the daughter of the chief of police, felt the need to unplug. Literature texts could be fascinating but also mentally demanding, and an afternoon of lightheartedness seemed like the perfect way to refresh her mind.
She decided to take a break, leaving her literary studies behind for a while and plunging into the lively atmosphere of the Lambrate flea market in the Città Studi area.
It was a bright, mild day—ideal for a walk. Sofia left her home with a carefree step, heading toward the weekend market. The Lambrate area was a melting pot of culture and activity, with its colorful stalls offering everything from used books to handcrafted jewelry, from vintage clothing to vinyl records.
Upon arriving at the market, Sofia immediately immersed herself in the festive atmosphere. The streets were crowded with people who, like her, wanted to enjoy the lovely day and maybe make an interesting find among the stalls. She let herself be captivated by the exploration, her curious eyes scanning every displayed item, feeling especially drawn to the piles of books and vintage prints that reflected her love of literature and history.
As she wandered among the stands, one in particular caught her attention.
It was a small vintage clothing stall, where each garment seemed to tell a story. Sofia paused to admire a few particularly elegant pieces, thinking about how the clothing of an era could offer a window into the past, just like the books she studied. The seller, an elderly gentleman with a kindly demeanor, noticed her interest and approached with a smile. “Do you like vintage clothes, my dear?” he asked, pointing to a 1930s dress Sofia had been admiring.......
