After her invigorating walk through Corenno Plinio, Lucia felt mentally more confident and ready to delve once again into the tangled threads of her investigation. Back at her hotel, she settled into the small office she had set up for the duration of her stay, surrounded by notes and open files. The case of the dead gardener, Marco Gentili, and his possible connections to Müller were at the forefront of her thoughts.
Lucia began by reviewing all the documents and notes she had gathered so far. Among them, a detailed police report on Gentili’s death contained a small detail she had initially overlooked: in Gentili’s wallet, a receipt from a luxury hotel in St. Moritz had been found, dated just a few days before his death. This seemingly insignificant detail had become crucial in light of recent discoveries.
With this new direction in mind, Lucia decided to do some further checks. She phoned the St. Moritz inn where Gentili had stayed, pretending to be a journalist researching Italian tourists in Switzerland. Reluctantly, and after she promised discretion, the receptionist confirmed that Gentili had indeed met a man matching Müller’s description during his stay. This piece of information was exactly what Lucia needed to know.
Now, with a tangible link between Gentili and Müller, Lucia began to explore the possible implications of that meeting.
She analyzed the financial transactions previously connecting Müller to suspicious operations.
