The Polystyrene, in the form of recycled or ground garnules, is an amorphous thermoplastic polymer obtained from the petrochemical monomer styrene.

It is a crystalline, rigid and relatively brittle material.

The Polystyrene has barrier properties to oxygen and water and has a relatively low melting point.
