The well-known trade name of PA is Nylon. Nylon, whether granulated or ground, is composed of monomers via amide bonds, which is why the material is often called polyamide. 

The advantages of nylon/polyamide are that it has good abrasion resistance, is elastic and wrinkle resistant, has high tensile strength, is thermoplastic and can be easily mixed with other types of fibers. It does not shrink significantly, and also has good recovery capacity in carpets.

The disadvantages are that polyamide absorbs dirt easily, promotes static electricity and decomposes rapidly in sunlight.

They are very resistant to petrol, oil and many solvents, but do not resist for long to 'hot water. Polyamide is more suitable for mixed products. Used for machine parts, oil filters.
