How to help the environment, reusing waste plastic, but feeling like a B-series entrepreneur

Producers of items made with recycled plastic should have a social recognition for the use they make of the recycled raw material in their products, which contributes, not only to reducing the quantities of waste that we produce every day all over the world, but allows to reduce the use of virgin petroleum-derived polymers.

A commitment to the environment in perfect coherence with the principles of the circular economy, but which in practice has not, until now, found great support among consumers.

The first thing states should do is to encourage purchases of products made from recycled plastic and discourage those made with virgin raw materials, so as to give an important boost in an environmentalist perspective.

Incentives can be of various forms: tax relief on purchases, shopping vouchers, controlled prices, incentives on the use of regenerated polymers for industries in the production phase.

These are just a few examples of many that can be adopted, but they are essential to help reduce waste plastic.

It is not the right way to make people believe that, in the short term, we can live without plastic, but we must make it clear that the more products made from recycled plastic are bought by consumers, the more the large quantities of plastic waste are consumed.

Countries produce daily and no longer know where to put. In the same sense, the more one chooses products made with virgin polymers, the more one contributes to increase plastic waste and encourages the transformation of oil into raw material, with the consequence of increasing the greenhouse effect .

The increase in recycling is only a link in a chain of interventions that must be done to solve the problem of plastic waste, but its importance is such as to have to invest in the culture of recycling and its reuse.

Knowing that the adoption of “Plastic Free” is a utopia, today, and it will be until science finds an eco-compatible product that can replace plastic in terms of flexibility of use, lightness, cheapness and technical characteristics, we must qualify the sector of products made of recycled plastic.

Going to the store, if you love the environment and your future, it would be desirable to choose plastic products made with recycled raw materials, trying not to confuse certain messages on the labels where the word ” recyclable ” is shown as the product could be made with virgin polymers.

If you need to buy buckets, vases, cabinets, tables, chairs, boxes, bottles, garden items, gratings, tubes and many other products, think about the environment, always.
