Recycled and Recyclable Polymer and mono-polymer plastic spring for an eco-sustainable dispenser

How many times have we wondered if a dispenser for soap or shampoo, was really recycled and recyclable, beyond what is written on the label, yes, because you always have to go to the bottom of things to understand.

A dispenser is made of plastic elements, the bottle and the pump, and a metal spring which allows the recall after to have been crushed. In addition, the bottle is often made from one polymer and the pump from another, creating complications in recycling in addition to those already taken into account to separate the metal spring.

The result is a joint venture between an international manufacturer of plastic bottles and a specialist in production of pumps for dispensers, totally recyclable inside which we find a plastic spring of the same polymer.

The mono material pumping system in plastic (PP) is a patented product, which allows the complete recyclability of the dispenser and reduces separation problems between plastics and metal.

It is also possible to produce recyclable pumps in PP, even with recycled polymers that come from post-consumption (PCR), thus favoring the use of plastic waste.

The joint venture is made up of the multinational ALPLA, specialized in the production of bottles for cosmetics, hygiene for the home and personal care, with the South Korean company HANA Innovation, which holds the patent for the manufacture of recycled and recyclable mono plastic (PP) pumps, without the use of metal springs.

By signing the joint venture with the South Korean company HANA Innovation, ALPLA now intends to continue its growth path in the strategically important injection molding sector.

“The potential for high-quality recyclable pumps is enormous and as a system supplier, we can offer the right bottles at the same time”.

“With this new partnership, we are enhancing our strengths as an internationally operating company, with the technological edge of HANA Innovation," says Michael Feltes, Global Business Development Director IM of ALPLA.

Sung Il Kang, president of HANA Innovation, highlights the joint venture's operational benefits: "Cooperation opens up opportunities for further global commercialization of our products and accelerates the development of sustainable solutions for the future".

With the new joint venture, the two companies want to promote the worldwide distribution of sustainable pumps, with the revolutionary patented technology of springs in plastic, and also offer complete sustainable systems, including the bottle.

ALPLA has worldwide manufacturing capabilities in injection molding, complemented by many years of recycling experience and an international network.

The establishment of the joint venture is subject to legal and regulatory approval by the relevant competition authorities. The parties have agreed not to disclose the details of the partnership.
