Lithium-ion battery recycling
rMIX: Recycling of Lithium Ion Batteries with HydrometallurgyCode: 9592. Our corporate mission is to recycle lithium-ion batteries through the recovery of residual energy, mechanical processing and hydrometallurgy. The recovery of the residual charge of the batteries to be recycled takes place through the discharge deep of the energy from the cells, battery packs and modules. The recovered energy will also be used for the recycling process. The mechanical recycling of the internal elements of the battery to be recycled is a operation to be done with care as the electrolyte is flammable and some components are polluting. the batteries are disassembled in an inert gas atmosphere and the electrolyte solvent is recovered from the comminuted material by vacuum distillation. By keeping the processing temperature low, there is no way for the gases to develop during the recycling process. The shredded material is separated into different material fractions based on physical properties such as grain size, density, magnetic and electrical properties, which are further processed metallurgically. Black mass hydrometallurgy is a process used for the recovery of precious materials such as cobalt, nickel, lithium, manganese and graphite. In hydrometallurgical processing of the black mass is the conductive salt containing fluorine, which can lead to the formation of hydrofluoric acid during wet chemical processing. By means of a patented and specific pre-treatment step, the fluoride is completely removed before leaching, reliably preventing the formation of hydrofluoric acid. After the removal of the fluoride, the metals are leached and then separated from the graphite, lithium, cobalt, nickel and manganese are separated from each other by various extraction methods, purified and recovered as salts. The salts serve as starting materials for the production of new cathode active materials. For more information, contact our sales department.
