What is biodegradable PBS granule
The biodegradable PBS (polybutylene succinate) granule is a type of environmentally friendly plastic, belonging to the category of aliphatic polyesters. This material is particularly known for its ability to biodegrade under natural conditions, without releasing toxic substances into the environment.
Production and Structure
PBS is synthesized through the polycondensation of butanediol and succinic acid. These monomers can be derived from renewable feedstocks, such as corn or sugarcane, making PBS a potentially bio-based polymer. The molecular structure of PBS gives it mechanical properties similar to those of polypropylene, but with the added benefit of biodegradability.
Environmental Benefits
The main advantage of PBS lies in its biodegradability. After its use, PBS can degrade in industrial compostable conditions, transforming into water, carbon dioxide and biomass, without leaving harmful residues. This reduces the environmental impact associated with the disposal of plastic waste and supports the objectives of reducing pollution and promoting a circular economy.
